1. Golden Days (04:42)
with Jeremy Serwer, so kinda the Siren redux
we've got to find our way back to the garden...
lyrics
dandelions push their heads through the cracks
of the parking lot where we used to meet
on a saturday night, nobody stays home
we could keep the boredom at bay
all of my friends and the hangers-on
would show up eventually
and the cops, would leave us alone
it was better to turn a blind eye
are the golden days gone for good
i thought that they'd never end
i shouldn't feel cheated, but still i do
we were promised so much more
mosses and mold are crumbling the walls
of the abercrombie and fitch
well the rain comes in through the holes in the roof
laying waste to those beautiful people
the busses still run every three days or so
even though there's nowhere to go
since the money ran out, and the jobs went away
and broken down cars choke the streets
the golden days, they're gone for good
i thought that they'd never end
i shouldn't feel bitter, but still i do
we were promised so much more
i haven't seen a soul, i've got nothing to do
if i had a phone i'd have nobody to call
it's too damn quiet and i'm hungry again
if i had food, i'd have nobody to eat with
and i'm wondering where they all have gone
we were cast out from the garden
off to prison or wars, or meaningless work
so many are deep in the ground
the golden days, they're gone for good
i thought that they'd never end
i shouldn't feel cheated, but still i do
we were promised so much more
